An historical reinactment at the Stillwater Blockhouse.

The 2012 season at the Stillwater Blockhouse is off to a tremendous start.

With four more events ahead of us, we are hoping to keep our numbers up. So far we have had 1,472 visitors this year. We have had people from Denmark, England, Belgium and Puerto Rico, and of course, visitors from across the United States.

It is not unusual for us to have anywhere from 4,000 to 6,000 people a year. The number of visitors may be higher than normal this year because we belong to a group called Lakes to Locks Passage.

We hand out brochures showing a map with many historical stops from Troy to Whitehall. Some of the sponsors of Lakes to Locks are, National Geographic, America’s Byways, and NY Canals.
