Lawrence Allen named new village Code Enforcement Officer

After a two-month search, Lawrence Allen has been appointed new Code Enforcement Officer for the Village of Stillwater. Allen replaces Lynn Goman, who retired in December.

A Code Enforcement Officer is responsible for making sure residents are in compliance with sections of the village municipal code, ordinances and resolutions in such areas a planning, zoning, community nuisance, property maintenance, housing, signs, and related areas. A code enforcement officer is informed about a possible violation through complaints, governmental agencies or by discovering the violation on his own.

Allen brings nearly 40 years of experience to the position as a long time professional in the home construction industry where he has specialized since 1974 in roofing, electrical, plumbing, building repair and maintenance. He is a New York State licensed inspector and certified home inspector, and has inspected thousands of homes in the Capital Region.

Allen is a member of the National Association of Certified Home Inspectors, President of the local NACHI chapter, an Associate Member of the New York State Building Code Officers, a member of the Better Business Bureau, and is a state certified wood destroying technician.

Since 1993, Allen has been the owner and operator of Visual Structural Inspections LLC of Clifton Park – which inspects pre-owned homes for structural and pest damage. He has also been an instructor for future home inspectors with the Knowledge Network, Albany, since 2006.
