A lifelong Stillwater resident has returned to her roots professionally to become the new Village Clerk.

After a one-month search, village officials appointed Sheristin “Sher” Tedesco to the position beginning Monday, July 16, replacing Patti Ryan who resigned in June.

Tedesco, who graduated as Sheristin Dunn from Stillwater Central Schools as a member of the Class of 1988, brings with her an impressive resume of experience working for many years as an Office Manager/Assistant in the private sector.

“I’m so excited to be here working in the heart of the village and serving the people of Stillwater, who I’ve known all my life,” said Tedesco, who describes herself as a “small town girl. I was a little nervous coming in but for me this is the ideal job. It will be nice getting to know everyone again, eliminating the work commute, and having more time to spend with my family at family dinners.”

Tedesco earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Management in 1992 from the New York State University at Plattsburgh. After college, she worked for three years in the business office of FPI Mechanical, Inc., in Cohoes.

After she and her husband, John Tedesco, had their son, Johnny (who is entering eighth grade at Stillwater School in the fall), she went to work part time for 12 years as the Office Manager at Fascia Floor Covering in Mechanicville. Before taking on her new role as Village Clerk, Tedesco worked for a year as Office Manager at Weld Computer Corp in the Rensselaer Technology Park.

Her family has a long history in Stillwater. Her grandfather (on her father’s side) owned the former Dunn Farm. Her grandmother (one her mother’s side), was the late Jane Nielsen, who was born on the Nielsen Farm at the historic Saratoga Battlefield, Bemis Heights. As a longtime member of the Stillwater Historical Society, Jane Nielson gave tours of the Stillwater Blockhouse, before it was moved to the village.
