Village Board approves road paying contract, appoints new Superintendent of Public Works

The village Board of Trustees held a special meeting Tuesday (June 11) to award a road paving bid and to appoint a new Superintendent of Public Works.

The board awarded a contract of $74,000 to Kubricky Construction Corp to repave Major Dickinson Avenue during the summer months. Kubricky was the lowest of three bids submitted for the project. Trustees had spent part of their May meeting discussing the village’s road paving needs and tried to prioritize the order of repair based on need and funds available. Major Dickinson Avenue is the only road to be decided upon as of yet.

The board also appointed Paul O’Kosky as new Superintendent of the Department of Public Works. O’Kosky, a 22-year employee with the department, replaces Robert Gerasia, who resigned recently. O’Kosky was appointed interim superintendent retroactive to June 1. He will become permanent in the position on July 1.
