Village to increase water rent rates by 25 cents per 1,000 gallons in April

The Stillwater Village Board of Trustees voted on Aug. 20 to increase its water rent billing rate for inside users by 25 cent per 1,000 gallons effective April 1, 2025. The new water rate will be $5.75 per 1,000 gallons used.

The raising of the rates is necessary to maintain good fiscal budgeting practices, per New York state guidelines. The village purchases its water from the Saratoga County Water Authority (SCWA) and experiences increases annually.

The village last raised the water rent in 2023 and, prior to that, in 2020. Meanwhile, water expenditures have been greater than the revenues, forcing the village to use its fund balance each year to balance the budget.
