Stillwater held its annual 9/11 Commemoration Ceremony on Sept. 11 – the 13th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center. The event was held this year at the Stillwater Area Community Center due to weather. Hosted by Historian Linda Sanders, residents gathered together to remember a friend and loved one, Dani Moore Tatum, who was lost in the on that tragic day in American history. The 9/11 invocation was given by Rev. Pamela Woodman, pastor of the Malta Presbyterian Church and a member of the Stillwater Blockhouse Committee. The Colors were displayed by Stillwater Boy Scout Troop 35. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Girls Scout Troop 1050. The Stillwater High School band with Dennis Latham led the National Anthem. There were remarks of the day from Village Mayor Ernest Martin, Town Supervisor Ed Kinowski, Kathy Marchione and Sean Shortell, representing U.S. Congressman Paul Tonko. A Prayer of Remembrance was offered by Rev. Aline Russell, Interim Pastor of the Stillwater United Church. Members of the Town and Village Boards joined family members of Dani Moore’s in laying the memorial wreath. The ceremony concluded with the singing of God Bless America. Stillwater Will Never Forget!
