Village Term Limits Law
On Oct. 20, 2020, the Village Board of Trustees enacted a new term limits law for residents running for Mayor or Trustee. See description below:
The purpose of the local law is to impose term limits on the offices of the Village Mayor and Village Trustee such that no person shall be elected to a single office in more than three consecutive general elections (12 years total). Election or appointment to a partial term of office to fill a vacancy shall not be counted against the proposed term limitations. Any elected term of office held prior to the Village General Election of November 5, 2019 shall not be counted against the proposed term limitations. The terms limits applied to one office shall not prohibit an elective public officer from being elected to another and different elective office.
