Congratulations to the Village and Town of Stillwater, recently honored at 50th anniversary celebration of Capital District Regional Planning Commission with the 2017 Erastus Corning Achievement Awards for Intermunicipal Cooperation.

This honor recognizes municipalities and organizations whose efforts have significantly contributed to the advancement of intermunicipal and interagency cooperation and regional planning.

The municipalities were honored for their partnership in creating the new Route 4 Corridor Formed Based Code.

For several months during 2016-17, the Town and Village of Stillwater worked jointly together to collaboratively develop new zoning code changes and design standards that would promote walkable mixed-use development where there is existing development, protect and preserve rural and historical areas including north of the Village and near the Saratoga Historic Battlefield, and enhance and support economic development and revitalization efforts along the Route 4 corridor. This project involved updating both the Town and Village zoning codes and resulted in individual updates for both jurisdictions.

Representatives from the Village and Town of Stillwater, including the Mayor, Town Supervisor, Village Trustees and Town Council members, were recognized by the CDRPC at an awards ceremony held in October at Franklin Plaza in Troy.
