Two incumbents are running unopposed this year for new terms on the Stillwater Village Board of Trustees.
Keith R. Collins and Ellen Vomacka, both first elected to the board in 2009, are running for new four-year terms (2013-2016) during the general village election on March 19. Voting polls will be open from noon to 9 p.m. at the St. Peter’s Parish Center on Hudson Avenue.
Trustee Collins was born and raised in the City of Mechanicville and attended St. Paul’s School and Mechanicville High School. He holds a degree in Industrial Engineering from Hudson Valley Community College, Union College, and the University of Maryland for Finance. He was previously Chief of the Arvin Hart Fire Company and was a line officer in the D.E. LaDow Steamer and Hose Company #2.
He and his family have been residents of the Town and Village since moving to Stillwater in 1990. He and his wife Darlene have three children, Keith, Patrick and Nicole.
Trustee Vomacka is a lifelong village resident and a graduate of Stillwater Central School. As a licensed Cosmetologist, she has operated her business for 25 years, the past 18 years of which have been located in the Village of Stillwater. She has two sons, Tim (Heather) and Nicholas (Valerie), a grandson Zakary and granddaughter Dakota all residents of Stillwater.
She has served as a committee person for the Water Department, the Building Committee, the Parks and Playgrounds Committee, the ZBA and Fire Department liaison. She is the active chairperson for the Rt. 4 and 32 Safe Routes to School Sidewalk/Storm Drain Project, Comprehensive Planning (update) and Grants Coordinating. With the assistance of her web design team, she has worked to develop the website for the Village of Stillwater.
