Two incumbents and one newcomer were elected to village office during the general elections on Nov. 5.
Mayor Judith Wood-Shaw and Trustee John Basile were re-elected to new four-year terms. Patrick F. Nelson was elected to his first four-year term on the Village Board. He will replace Timothy Campbell who did not seek re-election. The three candidates ran unopposed. All new terms begin on Monday, Dec. 2. The vote totals were as follows:
Village Mayor
- Wood-Shaw: 232 votes
- Write-in votes: 6
Village Trustee
- Basile: 209 votes
- Nelson: 136 votes
- Write-in votes: 76
Wood-Shaw was elected the village’s first female Mayor on Nov. 6, 2018. Prior to that, she served as Deputy Mayor and began serving her first term on the Board of Trustees in April of 2011.
Basile was re-elected Trustee to fill a one-year term on Nov. 6, 2018 after retiring from the board for a short time. He was first elected in 2007 and served two terms as village Trustee and six years as Deputy Mayor.
Nelson is a lifelong Stillwater resident and a 2008 graduate of Stillwater High School. He earned his Bachelor’s of Science degree in Biochemistry and Biophysics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in 2012. Nelson previously served as the Special Projects Coordinator for NYS Assemblyman Phil Steck (D-Colonie) and he currently represents Saratoga County on the New York State Democratic Committee.
