The Board of Trustees of the Village of Stillwater will hold in-person public hearings on two new local laws for 2021 at its next regular meeting on December 21, 2021, 7 p.m., at the Town Hall, 881 Hudson Avenue, Stillwater. All interested persons will be heard at that time and written comments may also be submitted to the Village Clerk prior to the public hearings.
Local Law No. 1 – Emergency Access Systems Law
This proposed local law would require that all buildings be equipped with a key box to provide fire and emergency responders with access to the building. One and two-family dwellings would be exempt from the law. View the entire law at the link below:
Local Law No. 2 – Cannabis Consumption Sites Opt-Out
Under this proposed local law, the Village of Stillwater seeks public input and comment on whether the Village should allow facilities to operate adult-use cannabis consumption sites within its borders pursuant to the Marihuana Regulation and Taxation Act (MRTA) and specifically Cannabis Law § 131. The local law would opt the village out of such allowing these establishments. The proposed local law, however, does not seek to prohibit the sale of cannabis at retail dispensaries within the Village. The proposed local law is subject to a permissive referendum.
